Application Angle Inspection – AAI 700
The application angle inspection is designed to verify the correct application of the cap to the PET bottle to eliminate the possibility of finding bottles that leak or are difficult to open.
The producers of caps and preforms place markers at the finish at the base of the bottleneck and on the screw-on cap for checking in line with the correct closure of the bottle. The application angle inspection checks the two markers and their angle from the top. For proper closure, the two markers must be at a specific angle to one another. The bottle is correctly closed if the two markers fall within a specific angle. Otherwise, if the angle is too narrow, the caps have been closed too tightly, whereas if the angle is too wide, the bottle might leak.
