CIBUS TEC INNOVATION AWARD 2023: ANTARES VISION GROUP RECOGNIZED FOR MICROWAVE TECHNOLOGY

An award recognizing the usefulness of advanced technology for the control of foreign bodies in food and beverages, protecting consumer health and company reputation

Antares Vision Group has won the Innovation Award 2023 for its microwave technology at Cibus Tec, held in Parma, 24-27 October. The award is given to companies that stand out for developing innovative solutions in the food sector and actively contributing to its progress.

The award recognizes the Group’s commitment to food safety, in line with Cibus Tec’s “Inspiring Innovation in Food & Beverage Technologies” mission. The winning microwave technology is an important innovation, first and foremost, to protect consumer health and safety, but also to reduce product recalls and their associated economic and reputational costs. The technology uses electric fields to overcome the limitations of current inspection tools, such as X-rays and metal detectors, which do not detect all contaminants.

By exploiting the different dielectric properties of materials, microwave technology can detect the presence of foreign bodies in creams, semi-liquids, and liquids, including hard-to-identify transparent physical contaminants such as plastic and glass. This type of inspection makes it possible to respond more accurately to the requirements of large-scale distribution in accordance with BRC, IFS or ISO 22000 standards.
