QUALITY CONTROL AND DIGITALIZATION OF THE SUPPLY CHAIN:  ANTARES VISION GROUP LEADS TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION FOR THE FOOD INDUSTRY

The Group will be present at IPACK-IMA with a dedicated space (Hall 7 – Stand B126) and the event:
“Modified Atmosphere, In-line Microleak Detection: A Quality Assurance Duo” (May 29, 12:00 PM)

Travagliato (Brescia), 6th May 2025Technological innovation for the safety, quality, and traceability of products is the key theme of Antares Vision Group’s participation in IPACK-IMA (May 27–30, Fiera Milano), the leading international exhibition for processing and packaging materials and technologies for both the food and non-food industries.

One of the most groundbreaking technologies on display is microwave inspection – a revolutionary innovation in quality control for the food industry. This solution can detect foreign bodies in food products such as plastic, glass, wood, bones, rubber, and insects, as well as all metals. These are contaminants that current X-ray and metal detection systems fail to identify. Unlike X-rays, which rely on density differences, microwave inspection detects dielectric contrasts between the product and the contaminant—allowing it to “see” what conventional technologies cannot.

“By participating in IPACK-IMA,” said Fabio Forestelli, General Manager FMCG and Board Member of Antares Vision Group, “we aim to offer food industry professionals our latest technological innovations focused on quality, safety, traceability, and sustainability—top priorities for the industry and end consumers alike. At our booth, visitors will have the opportunity to experience some of our solutions firsthand and attend our event dedicated to in-line microleak detection in modified atmosphere packaging.”

Visitors will find advanced inspection solutions at the stand, including two ALL-IN-ONE machine models. These compact systems integrate multiple technologies into a single unit, enabling the detection of various defects to meet multiple safety and quality needs for both product and packaging. Key features include::

  • Weight check and foreign body detection (using X-ray technology);
  • In-line microleak detection via an innovative laser spectroscopy application;
  • Label inspection and code reading (covering all mandatory variable data: expiry date, lot number, origin);
  • Seal inspection and serialization through the printing of a unique code, enabling full supply chain traceability.

The Group will also showcase the IE4000 PLUS, designed for label inspection on non-oriented round containers. This solution supports front/back, wraparound, sleeve, and collar labels, whether opaque or semi-transparent. Using artificial intelligence, the vision system automatically recognizes the container and reconstructs a 3D model to detect even the smallest defects in hard-to-inspect areas with extreme precision.

Another highlight is the LDS (Leak Detection System), which performs non-destructive in-line microleak detection on 100% of production. Using laser spectroscopy, it identifies holes or microleaks in the packaging or seals by detecting gas molecule emissions (such as CO₂) without altering line speed or modified atmosphere composition (MAP). This real-time inspection ensures immediate rejection of non-compliant packages, safeguarding both brand reputation and product quality for end consumers.

All microwave inspection systems, ALL-IN-ONE machines, and traceability solutions are part of DIAMIND—Antares Vision Group’s modular and integrated ecosystem supporting digital transformation for companies, products, and supply chains. DIAMIND enhances safety and transparency across the value chain and now includes DIAMIND Connect, a software solution ensuring full traceability, transparency, and customer engagement. It combats counterfeiting and promotes sustainability. Already compliant with Digital Product Passport requirements, DIAMIND Connect integrates with existing IT infrastructures and offers tailored solutions for various industries. In the food sector, it ensures farm-to-fork traceability and transparency on nutritional and sustainability values.

EVENT
Modified Atmosphere, In-line Microleak Detection: A Quality Assurance Duo
Thursday, May 29, 2025 – 12:00 PM

This event will explore how the synergy between cutting-edge in-line microleak detection technologies and optimized modified atmosphere management ensures product quality and extended shelf-life. Laser spectroscopy enables precise identification of microleaks, preventing alterations that could compromise preservation. Simultaneously, the correct formulation of the modified atmosphere is essential for maintaining product integrity over time. Only the combined control of both factors can guarantee quality, minimize claims, protect brand reputation, and deliver safe, intact products to consumers.
