Aggregation
Serial code aggregation is a key factor in ensuring full traceability, optimizing logistics operations, and improving transparency across the entire supply chain. The system enables the creation of a hierarchical structure among logistics units — individual item, bundle, case, pallet — through parent/child relationships based on unique serial codes.
By scanning a single aggregated code, such as the one printed on a pallet, it is possible to trace all units it contains. This greatly simplifies warehouse management, shipping, quality control, and product recall operations.
Serial codes are applied to the top side of the container (e.g., on the cover) using printing technologies such as laser, inkjet, or UV. The latter allows invisible printing to preserve packaging design aesthetics. In this case, the system includes a UV filter camera and a dedicated UV lamp to ensure accurate code detection.
Code association is managed by a dual vision system: one camera reads the serials on the container top, while another captures the label on the aggregated unit. The software processes the data and automatically generates the hierarchical link.
This process is repeated at every packaging level: bundles are linked to cases, and cases to pallets. The resulting hierarchy allows tracking of every unit with a single scan, cutting down on time, cost, and operational complexity.
Especially valuable in highly regulated sectors such as food, the system is a powerful tool to prevent counterfeiting, avoid grey markets, and ensure product authenticity.
